Are we living in The Matrix?

During my personal quarantine (which I decided to call “quarantirene“), I’m spending some of my free time to watch movies that I have never watched before or it’s been a while since I’ve watched them. Today I would like to talk about Matrix.

Unfortunately, no one can be told what the Matrix is. You have to see it for yourself. So, if you haven’t watched to movie STOP READING THIS POST NOW. I wouldn’t like to spoil you without your concern and if you keep reading that’s what’s going to happen. You should live by yourself what the matrix is by watching the movie and they look at your life and inside of you. Instead, if you’ve watched it then you can continue reading.

“The Matrix is everywhere. It is all around us. Even now, in this very room. You can see it when you look out your window or when you turn on your television. You can feel it when you go to work, when you go to church, when you pay your taxes… It is the world that has been pulled over your eyes to blind you from the truth. That you are a slave. Like everyone else, you were born into bondage, born into a prison that you cannot smell or taste or touch. A prison for your mind.” Morpheous. The Matrix.

According to the movie, we’re all in sleeping and dreaming mode and we are not awake in the “real world” but in a computer-generated world that is a simulation of what we consider the real world. Only those who are brave enough wake up in the real world and realize about the dreaming state we all are involved in, and the Matrix wants them to die because they might jeopardize the Matrix’s purposes.

This makes me think about how our ego creates a “mental matrix” in our minds that makes us think we are living our real life. But that’s far from the real truth, actually. I like to think that inside us we have both the mental matrix and the real world, and we decide in each moment whether we take the blue or the red pill. Don’t you think?

Could it be that we’re all living in a mind matrix created by our mind and we live in a dream reality and not the real reality?

We live in the dreamy “mental matrix” created by our ego and shaped by our own perspective according to how we’ve been taught in the past and our own experiences. In this situation, we see the world and the reality as we want to see it. We have our own perspective that filters the “real” reality and we don’t see the whole picture (just what we want to see and hear). However, if we develop some consciousness and we are aware that our ego tells a story far from reality, then we can start asking questions and look inside of us to know the answers. That is, taking the red pill and know who is the inner you that’s beneath your ego. When you get in contact with that (inner) you, then you realize that your mental you in the Matrix is just a character that your ego has created and you’ve been identified with it all your life. But it’s not you. It’s just a projection of you (like “the residual self-image” o “the mental projection of your digital self” they mention in the movie). When you are aware of this, then you cannot reside anymore in the mental matrix and it turns to be a never going back moment in your life. Then a Pandora box opens by itself and you see all the work that needs to be done to actually live in the real world and not in the Matrix world.

To sum up, I would say that depending on the consciousness level that we have, we can decide whether we let our ego to tell us the story that we want to hear and live in the mental matrix world he creates in our mind, or rather we decide to live in the real world with no characters, just being who we are. Would you agree?

Happy and easy quarantine to y’all.
